I have just spent a few days away in France, staying near a little town called Eymet, in the South West Dordogne region and not far from Bergerac. Eymet is a beautiful, typical Bastide town layout which includes an open central square, featuring a large fountain, with roads lined with medieval houses dating from the 13th to 15th century. It has some lovely bars and restaurants and every Thursday morning it has a lively market…and apparently about a third of the people who live there are British!

Issigeac is another beautiful medieval village not far from Eymet and on a Sunday morning they have an exceptionally good market – especially the nougat stall!:-
