I have just spent a few days away in France, staying near a little town called Eymet, in the South West Dordogne region and not far from Bergerac. Eymet is a beautiful, typical Bastide town layout which includes an open central square, featuring a large fountain, with roads lined with medieval houses dating from the 13th to 15th century. It has some lovely bars and restaurants and every Thursday morning it has a lively market…and apparently about a third of the people who live there are British!

Photo blog post to follow as it gives you the best idea of the look and feel of it, the relaxed coffee and sparkling wine moments as well as witnessing a wonderful car rally:-

The local traffic police!:-

Issigeac is another beautiful medieval village not far from Eymet and on a Sunday morning they have an exceptionally good market – especially the nougat stall!:-

Bergerac, is only a one hour 45 minute flight away from Stansted airport:-
