After arriving home from my inspiring evening listening to intellectuals discuss data and newspapers and the world in general (see previous post), as per usual, when you have children, things tend to get increasingly smaller and smaller.
We had supper and then she ate a chocolate bar she had been savouring all day, prior to doing her homework. She was livid. Munching through it like Augustus Gloop becoming increasingly enraged at the lack of all that should be in there.
So enraged was she that she immediately sent off a missive to Cadbury’s, all the while I was trying to explain that there were more pressing problems in the world and that hopefully this would be a lightbulb moment for her like the one I had when I wrote to Twinings about a teabag that had ripped and suddenly realised I had to get a job.
“Disappointed and furious of London” I’m surprised she didn’t sign the letter.
Here is what she wrote (glad there was a cursory mention of “World Problems” in there:-
A Letter to Cadbury’s
As a lover of Cadbury’s bars, I buy your chocolate on a regular basis. Therefore was extremely disappointed when I purchased the new ‘Marvellous Creations’ (which I previously have found quite marvellous). However the one I have just eaten had not only very few hard shells, but absolutely no jelly shells, which made the bar no longer ‘marvellous’ and quite upsetting. I realise that this sounds very trivial, and is not a world problem, however sometimes the little things matter and this case the little jelly shells. And I thought that I should let you know, as a very disappointed Cadbury’s lover.
P.S : My mum’s a blogger and I tweet a lot.
Oh dear. What is the world coming to. She’s even thrown in a social media threat at the bottom.
Be scared Cadbury’s, be very very scared.
After that, we did of course have a very interesting discussion about Syria and stem cell research (not).

September 5, 2013BUt the thing is, it’s their whole world. That’s what Cadburys do – and they’re not doing it properly. They should be thanking her. Hopefully with a huge box of something marvelous.
