“Well, it’s been nice knowing you” said two of my children as they walked out the door this morning. THERE IS OF COURSE NEARLY ALWAYS SOMEBODY WHO WINS THE LOTTERY, so I’m a little bit concerned. “Big Bang Day”. Twenty years in the making, 2,500 scientists working in 40 different countries and this morning they announce there is a slight delay owing to the fan belt (or maybe I wasn’t listening properly). 8.30am they’re meant to be switching on the largest machine in the world. It is an experiment to recreate the conditions immediately after the Big Bang. Mainly they will be looking for the particle that gave the universe form. Why do we want to know anything more about mass and what the rest of the universe is made of anyway? I’m quite happy with knowing there is a black hole where all my blogs go and thats about it.
So the good news is that maybe I’ll meet all my cyberfriends in the black hole – see you all for coffee about 9.15am x

September 10, 2008Well it’s ten passed two, we appear to have made this far, I for one don’t think I am in a black hole! Fingers crossed I won’t be any time soon, but if it happens I’ll be there for coffee.
