What a brilliant two days. I learnt loads and met up with lots of old faces and many new ones. Fascinating talks by the great and the good – lots of advice on how to improve and/or enjoy your blog, how to maintain your authentic voice, improve your site, monetise what you’ve got and much more.
Sadly I didn’t win the Travel Blog Award but as my brother pointed out “you have to travel to be considered for a travel blog award”. Congratulations to the winner of our category Mum’s Gone To… she has a brilliant blog and was a good choice for the winning place.
My moderating role went very well – I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I might be and it was made easy by having a panel of brilliant women talking about “Having It All” so very little moderating required. Can’t believe I didn’t get a photo of me holding a microphone! Oh well. I’ve got much more interesting photos to show you.
Friday night social event with my friend Rena of Bananagrams making the most of her photo opportunity…:-

..Or so I thought….here she is with another suggestion as to where to keep their Bananagram pouch:-

Trust me to get in on the act – although I look like a large boil emerging from one of their bicep muscles:-

We stayed at the Hoxton Hotel which was spectacularly cool – even spotted Chris Moyles there – probably pre Hackney weekend:-
The next morning Sarah Brown spoke about being true to yourself, her experience of tweeting from Downing Street and her charity Piggy Bank Kids:-

Camilla Batmanghelidjh talking about the charitable side of blogging and how you can use your voice for a worthy cause:-

June 24, 2012I didn’t get to see you over the weekend – so sorry about that. And didn’t get my sorry behind out of bed in time for your exercise session. I was at the Hoxton too – didn’t catch Chris Moyles though.
Hopefully now our children are finished their GCSEs we can get out and about again. That was such a lovely thing to say about me winning: I was a bit surprised to win but will accept with good grace!

June 24, 2012I’ve generally been skipping over everyone’s post britmums post with a bit of ‘meh’. I’ve been looking at yours for quite some time now, it is strangely captivating and keeps pulling me back just to recheck in case I missed something the first few times. I have to say though it would have been a better post if it wasn’t just pictures, oh hang on there’s words, sorry missed those 🙂
