OK. Back to a certain semblance of calm (temporarily), before I panic profusely tomorrow because I’ve got to get on an aeroplane and bugger off out of the country for five days leaving three children in the care of 85,000 different people. Essentially they will be staying with their father. It’s just that he’s got quite a lot of stuff on and so I’m juggling. A lot.
I will be missing:-
My three children
Two school summer fairs
One cricket match
One child’s sports day
Three classes that I am supposed to be teaching
This is not good.
However, the desire to once again take myself out of the trivia of my emotional turmoil beckons. There’s nothing like the new perspective created by distance to help readjust one’s priorities and hopefully I will benefit from it from a work point of view as well. We’ll see. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that.
I have finally bought myself a laptop. I will now be able to blog from the aeroplane!! How cool is that? Speaking of which, did you know that an Italian woman who arrived too late to board the doomed Air France flight that crashed into the Atlantic killing all 228 passengers was killed in a car crash only a few days later in Austria? What a tragedy and it does make you think about “destiny” and other such things.
For my 96 year old grandmother this doesn’t seem to be the case thankfully and she is now out of hospital. She was put in a ward with three other women all at least 30 years younger than her who seemed to be on their last legs and she wanted to go home. She’s pretty perky again and I gather that she sent her love to me via my cousin telling her “I know she’s very busy teaching her classes. It must be very depressing for her clients. There she is at the front all tall and thin with a lovely long neck teaching short, dumpy people how to stretch and at the end of the class they will still be short and dumpy”. Don’t you just love family?
I have only seen my teenage son for two minutes since I dropped him off at school two days ago for his last exam. I said “good luck, see you in a year”, but it was meant to be a joke. I only had to meet him earlier today very briefly in order to pass him over some money. He’s out again tonight and tomorrow night – end of exam celebrations rule.
My daughter starts her end of term exams next week. She has been revising in an entirely different way, requiring many trips to the stationary shop to buy files and plastic covers and coloured felt tip pens. She has spent days organising her revision file and colouring in all the titles, but I haven’t seen any actual work as yet. I remember working in the same way. All my old text books have beautiful titles but no content. “Mum, I’m a kinaesthetic learner according to my teachers so you HAVE to buy me this expensive set of felt tip pens or I’m going to FAIL”. Good grief. She told me she has found a really great site called “How To Write An Essay.com” – but I think that was a joke.

June 18, 2009That scanning will take forever. You definitely need some help. How about an extra pocket money bribe to one of your kids?
Sounds like a good blog solution, and well done you for not hitting "delete" in a rash moment.
Safe trip!

June 18, 2009Removing the inflamatory posts is probably the best thing to do, but please don't loose the personal touch you bring to your blog, that's what makes it so interesting.
