Congratulations to the Tourism Malaysia Garden and their design team;- James Wong and David Cubero, for winning a gold medal for their show garden for the second year running.
The garden was designed for the courtyard villa of an exclusive ecotourism resort, and draws inspiration from the local mangrove swamps. It took the designers 9 months, working 7 days a week to plan the garden and a full 20 days to put it all together. Most of the plants were sourced from Amsterdam but they are all obviously indiginous to Malaysia and sitting in the middle of garden was a wonderful privilege. Just my favourite sort of garden – junglesque, lush and tranquil. One of the orchids, only found in a specific lake in Malaysia had to be delivered by medical grade courier to ensure it survived the journey.
I talked to Jimmy Choo, who is a tourism ambassador and James Wong who were both lovely. James is already designing the garden for next year. They are both understandably very proud of the award and feel that it goes a long way to help promote Malaysia’s wonderful parks and gardens and their tourism in general.
Here are some photos of the Malaysia garden:-
