I promised Camilla Batmanghelidjh, the dynamic and wonderfully impressive founder and CEO of the charity Kids Company that I would do a post about the exhibition currently on at the Royal Academy. It’s running until the 22nd July from Tuesday to Sunday, 12 – 6pm and presents paintings, sculptures and soundscapes by over 400 children and young adults.
They have been created by impoverished children with the therapeutic support of staff and artists at the Kids Company. Camilla says “more children’s voices are given a platform because otherwise they are completely silent in our community – there is so much poetry in these children because they have seen the worst of humanity”.
I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m going to take my children as soon as they break up for their summer holiday. Here is Camilla talking about it all at the Britmums Conference:
