Hands DOWN. Cinderella is easily the best panto we’ve ever seen!!
I’ve been taking my kids to Richmond Theatre to kickstart the festive season every year now for about the last eight Christmases and I have to say this year’s show is every bit worth its weight in Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.
Dreams really can come true. It was SO much fun. Original, hilarious and absolutely stunning. The cast were incredible. The pace was supercharged. The costumes and sets were beautiful. And the jokes, music and dancing were absolutely on point. I particularly liked the ugly sisters, who were so atrocious it was actually difficult not to love them just a little bit. But the star of the show for me was, without doubt, the almighty Basil Brush. He’s cheeky as ever and hasn’t aged a bit!!
The show stars Call The Midwife’s Helen George as The Fairy Godmother, musical theatre sensation and West End and Broadway star Charlie Stemp as Buttons, and TV icon Basil Brush as Baron Basil.
They’re joined by musical theatre performers Michael Lin as Dandini, Tom Major as Prince Charming, and Hope Dawe as Cinderella, who returns to Richmond Theatre after starring in last year’s production of Beauty and the Beast. Stephen Guarino and Jak Allen-Anderson star as the Wicked Stepsisters, and pantomime legend Gary Wilmot directs this year’s production, with acclaimed choreographer Stephen Mear.
If you’re looking for a welcome distraction from the Christmas mayhem please definitely take yourselves, your children and their grandparents to watch Cinderella. I honestly can’t think of a better way to ignite some Christmas magic and get the whole family together for a thoroughly wholesome evening of much needed silliness, sparkle and joy.
Cinderella at Richmond Theatre is absolutely loaded with brilliant one-liners that will have you on the edge of your seat, tongue twisters so sharp you’ll be wondering if you’ve just eaten a whole packet of sour Haribo, and all the favourite trimmings you’d expect from a top class pantomime.
There are oh-so many surprises in store, but I don’t want to spoil it – please do go and see this wonderful show for yourselves.
