Whilst my children were away with their father, my mother and I took the opportunity to go and spend a couple of nights at the gorgeous Hotel Endsleigh situated on the edge of Dartmoor.
Olga Polizzi owns it and like her Tresanton hotel in Cornwall, it is beautifully designed and furnished. You can just imagine a wealthy Edwardian family skipping about in it. I want it to be my house. The views are stunning, you can fish for salmon, go for long walks, the food was excellent and the bed linen just divine.
Highly recommended. Expensive, but if you really want to get away from it all, then this is for you. Very peaceful.
