Here I am worried about the world and being miserable and I have to laugh. My teenage son has been invited to a fancy dress party tomorrow night. He’s been considering options for ages. All his mates seem to be all going as soldiers. He has decided to be different. I am surprised and pleased that he has shown an individual streak. He seems confident enough to pull it off. He thinks he looks cool. I could hear him having a conversation with his friend:- “oh mate..you should see my costume, it is SO cooool. MATE. You really need to get one too. We can go on the tube together. Mate. I’ll show you where to get it from. It is SO cool. Mate. You have to get the same one. Mate. I’ll send you a photo. Then you can see how cool it is”.

When I told my friend he was going as Sylvester, she said “what, Stallone?” “Err, no” I told her, the other one…”

His mate is pleading with him not to wear it….
