HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 FILM REVIEW

Wow. what an imagination JK Rowling has. I of course spent lots of time during the film marvelling at her imagination and then imaagining her sitting in her Edinburgh cafe only 7 years ago conjuring up the whole magical empire (have you seen that she is about to take over the world online and have you seen that huge pink diamond she was wearing the other day?). It was an extraordinary feat and I whilst I haven’t been the biggest HP fan, I am truly impressed with what she has achieved.

The special effects were spectacular, as you would expect. It was like watching Raiders of The Lost Ark with better graphics (although I’d rather watch Harrison Ford than Daniel Radcliffe running through rubble and discovering lost tombs to be honest).

However, it wasn’t aimed at me. The kids I took absolutely loved it and my daughter and her friend RAVED about it. Builder Bloke on the other hand said “that is the first and last 3D film I ever go to”. He felt sick the whole way through. Looked ridiculous in huge glasses but couldn’t enjoy the ride. Shame.

What a brilliant cast – Maggie Smith was great with a “oooh I’ve always wanted to use that spell” moment, as was Alan Rickman. They all were. Great make-up. Loved whoever managed to make everybody’s teeth look so bloody awful. Loved the teeny weeny pointy dwarf teeth.

Anyway. All’s well that ends well – apart from the fact that the new intake of Hogwarts seemed to be entirely made up of redheads (which of course there is nothing wrong with and his highly fashionable at the moment) and a lot of the younger generation that I spoke to felt that the older versions still looked 12.
