HOME AGAIN

Home again. From a fabulous press trip to Walt Disney World. Where I morphed from a mother into a very young, giggly teenager who actually managed to overcome a lifelong fear of rollercoasters and other scary rides. There were about 18 of us all together – 8 journalists, 1 blogger and all their plus ones – ranging from children, to partners and friends. It was a great group that I feel very privileged to be part of and we all had a lot of fun together testing out all the new attractions.

So happy to be reunited with two out of three of my children who by all accounts have had a good week sans their mother, staying with various people. Amazing really how life goes on relatively easily in ones absence and none of us are as indispensable as we think. Frankly I have come to the conclusion that a little bit of distance every now and again most certainly makes the heart grow fonder and is in fact a very healthy thing – all that being taken for granted stuff disappears for a minute which is an added bonus. I couldn’t really ever get away when the children were much younger – guess I would have had to somehow manage it if I had been working and had to travel and I really sympathise with how hard it is to sort out the logistics because even though my children are a lot older now it is still a nightmare making sure that everything runs smoothly in my absence.

My daughter is happily wearing all things Victoria’s Secrets and Mac make-up – two products that are significantly cheaper in the USA. I am sure I am setting her up for a massive fall. Anyone at 18 who has such gorgeous underwear is going to have to work very hard in life to maintain such high standards. She is so happy she keeps peeking down her top to admire the view. One of the journalists on our trip said that you are meant to buy new bras every three months! Really? Is that true? More like three years in my case. Really don’t see why they have to be replaced quite so regularly unless of course you actually have proper breasts to look after. My bras are more like duvets so no need to change that regularly.
