So just when I think I have a few calm weeks ahead of me everything changes again. My son does indeed need to have an operation under general anaesthetic for a “Manipulation of Fractured Nasal Bones” AKA – re-breaking his nose – although as the operation will be just less than two weeks after his injury, (which is pretty good for the NHS), the bones won’t have had enough time to re-knit together so it’s hopefully not too big an operation.
We saw the specialist this morning. She said she “didn’t need to be a specialist to see that it was broken” and wrote down “was straight now significantly over to the right” – aren’t noses spectacularly unattractive things when taken in isolation? :-
So Wednesday morning he has to go in for his op. Now I have to change work etc. so that I can be there with him.
WHY does it have to be so difficult juggling work and children?
Had a hilarious parent/teacher evening for my daughter at her school last night. All good. No major problems. The chemistry teacher said that she had spent the whole class in fits of giggles with her friend, but I have to say I don’t really blame them because he’d managed to set his beard alight in the classroom whilst doing an experiment – no damage – just a bit of frazzled hair here and there and no doubt a nasty smell right under his nose to have to live with for a while. Not a good look for the teacher.

March 11, 2011Yes, he’s playing on Sunday – last game and the ENT specialist said it was fine because he’d broken it anyway. After his op he’s not allowed to do contact sport for six weeks Lx

March 11, 2011and how guilty do you feel because it is a pain having to juggle work and children. I always assume the supermums see no issue, children would walk all over work and not care. I hope all goes well. Even if it doesn’t ever quite go back to the old style, the rugged look is rather sexy (as they get older not now, not child…I best shut up!). Have a good weekend x

Setting fire to your beard is a sure fire (!) way to set off giggly pupils – thank goodness I don’t teach chemistry – or have a beard!
