We had a lovely Mother’s Evening in the end with the kids arriving back armed with flowers and cards. My youngest son gave me a card all about how I do the laundry and clean the house from top to bottom and yet still have time for him – I thought it was going to say “NOT” on the last page, but he didn’t appear to be joking – which is a good thing – must be doing something right.

My daughter gave me about 25 Freddo Frog chocolates and wrote a poem in my card that she says she had made up herself. I’m not so sure – anybody recognise it?

You filled my days with rainbow light
Fairytales and sweet dream nights,
A kiss to wipe away my tears
A hug to ease my fears
You gave me the gift of life
And then in love, you set me free
I thank you for your tender care
For deep warm hugs and being there,
I hpe that when you think of me
A part of you
You’ll always see.

How cool is that? But WHO wrote it??
