One of the surprising things we did during our stay at Walt Disney World was take ourselves off on a tour of Bay Lake in our own mini motorboats. Called Sea Raycers and located at the Grand Floridian Hotel this was yet another pang of guilt moment when I realised how much fun my teenage children would have doing this. Especially given that from the age of 12 you are allowed to be personally in charge of your own vessel – what fun!! Surprisingly inexpensive too.

Here’s the little pontoon from the hotel where you start off:-

Here are the prices – you can also go fishing and paragliding and lots of other water based activities:-

I’m not sure what speed they go – fast enough to create a significant wake and certainly fast enough for me – if you find some waves created by some of the larger steam boats that go up and down the lake you can even fly a little bit across the water. I in fact got stopped by one of the police patrol boats and was made to read out the sign that said “GO SLOW. NO WAKE AREA” and was then asked to explain whether I understood the meaning of the sign and why was it that I was speeding in a go slow area.

Very pretty Dr Seuss style scenery:-
