Pretty happy that my alcoholic alcohol loving family Christmas can be sorted in one fell swoop this year. They’re even offering cocktail masterclasses in January! Woohoo! I’m going to book us all in for a stay at Rathfinny Estate who are offering something for everyone at their award-winning Winery in Sussex this Christmas. Whether you are searching for a wintery countryside escape, a unique experience package to gift, or the perfect bottle for your festivities, Rathfinny Estate has it all.

Venture to the breathtaking slopes of the South Downs in Sussex, one of England’s exceptional natural landscapes and a hotspot for some of the world’s best sparkling wine. This winter, Rathfinny invites you to dine in the Tasting Room, walk the countryside trails, taste their internationally acclaimed wines, and then retreat to the intimate Flint Barns for a relaxing overnight stay.

Dine in Rathfinny’s Tasting Room

Christmas is a time to celebrate delicious and indulgent food and at Rathfinny the team will be serving up festive lunches and a five course set menu, consisting of dishes from land, sea and garden, in the newly opened Tasting Room. Renowned for his seasonal British cuisine, chef Chris Bailey is leading the team on-site to present mouth-watering dishes, paired with sensational Sussex wines using local produce. Dishes range from smoked duck, sea trout and salsify tempura with winter truffle, to brandy butter ice cream, Christmaspudding and gingerbread.

Wine tastings at Rathfinny’s Cellar Door

The Cellar Door is also open for passers-by to drop in for a yuletide tasting. Whether it be the Cradle Valley still wine, Seven Sisters Gin, or the new Seven Sisters Vermouth, launching this December, there is something for everyone. Merchandise can also be purchased from the Cellar Door at the entrance to the Winery. Following the release of its first Sparkling wines this April, you can also purchase a glass of Sussex in Rathfinny’s Tasting Room.

Stay overnight in Rathfinny’s Flint Barns

If it is a relaxing getaway you are in need of this Christmas, then visit the Flint Barns for a cosy overnight stay, along with bed and breakfast. With only a handful of rooms available, Rathfinny offers an exclusive and luxurious travel experience in the heart of Sussex.

Rathfinny is also offering Christmas lunches on selected Sundays throughout the month of December, with a sumptuous seasonal menu, prepared to get you into the festive spirit. Dine with family, friends or even colleagues and celebrate with all the trimmings.Sarah Driver, Co-Owner at Rathfinny comments, “There is something really special about being at Rathfinny during the winter. To be by a roaring fire in the middle of the Sussex Downs with a glass of English sparkling wine, nothing could be more perfect.”

Christmas gifting

Sort your Christmas presents early this year by ordering Rathfinny’s exclusive Seven Sisters Gin Gift Box direct from the estate. Available to purchase onsite for £46, the box includes a bottle of critically acclaimed Seven Sisters Gin and a specially crafted gin glass. The Gin Gift Box is the perfect, stress-free present for those looking for family and friends this season.Rathfinny’s gin is unusually made from 30% grape spirit and one of the only vintage gins on the market. The gin is distilled in a two-stage process, first by drawing the richest flavours from the remaining wines and then distilling the neutral grain spirit, which are blended with botanicals. It is also rich in juniper and citrus, with the wine providing complex fruit aromas giving the spirit depth. Subtle floral and savoury notes from the Angelica seed and Hyssop tie the layers together. Made with care, this gin is one to sip and share throughout the party season.

For those looking to continue the celebrations into 2019, there will also be cocktail masterclasses available in January on-site at the estate. Keep an eye on their website for dates.

Escape the city with friends and enjoy the full Rathfinny experience this season.
