I am a little disappointed. I have been asked to run a competition to win a fabulous handbag from a brand new bag label called "Peach Pink London". Which means that I won't be allowed to enter. Which is a shame. Because I want it. It's lovely and comes from their first launch collection for Spring/Summer 2013. The collection of nine exquisite bags have just gone on sale at Anthropologie and Fenwicks in London and will be available nationwide from January what is more it's retail price is £198.00 - which is a very significant present for one of you lovely people out there to give to a loved one - or wrap up for yourself. Their website was only launched last week. Check it out here:- www.peachpinklondon.com They've got some really lovely bags and in the great scheme of handbag prices (or compared to Mulberry anyway) their prices are very reasonable. They will hopefully bridge the gap between High Street and Designer brands, providing timeless bags at an affordable price. Offering a delectable twist on modern trends – where colour, individual details and multi-functionality are equally important – the label appeals to Britain’s archetypal modern woman and already counts Sienna Miller among its celebrity fans.
You won't be able to win this bag anywhere else! THE RULES All very simple. I just want to know who you want to give the bag to and why. If it's for yourself that's fine. To keep it even more simple your answers have to be tweet sized. So only 140 characters to persuade me!
You also need to tweet your answer using the hashtag #bagcomp so we can find them all, follow @FamilyAffairs and @PeachPinkLondon and also leave it as a comment on my blog, otherwise I won't be able to ensure I've got all the entries. Terms and conditions: Closing date is Monday 17th December - which is only in a week away! Otherwise you won't get it before Christmas.
One winner will receive a ‘Clementine shoulder bag’ in ‘willow’ colour from Peach Pink London’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
No alternative prizes will be offered.
Good luck!!
OK. Trying again. That "Best Cup of Tea in the World" was a rubbish idea because who takes pictures of cups of tea?? (apart from me, clearly).....but sunsets...well that's a completely different matter. This time, if I can get some different photos from around the world then I might be able to offer a prize to the person who sends in the best photo - maybe, as a newbie travel blogger I can get tourist boards involved???? No rules - any age welcome, the more in the photo the better, if you've got a story, great - just chuck it all in.....
I've got millions of photos of sunsets. My Florida beach ones are especially lovely:- Or here is one a little closer to home - the view from Petersham Hill taken a few months ago. One of my favourite views in the world (possibly because I am standing at the entrance to the lovely Roebuck pub):-
OR (as it's my blog and I can break the rules if I want) what about Zambia? My trip with my father to the South Luangwa Valley was unbelievably special and beautiful - enhanced even more by the sundowners served out of the back of jeeps in spectacular wilderness surroundings - heaven on earth:-
I also have, (to start the ball rolling) several gorgeous photos from an old school mate of mine - Geoff Reid who lives in New Zealand. He sent me an email with a couple of amazing photos and an explanation too:-
He says: "I have this 'thing' about sunrises and sunsets. My English wife (northerner) doesn't get it. We'll be driving and the sun will be blazing orange across the horizon through the trees and I'll go "Woah, look at THAT" and slow down and she say "What ?"
"The sunset SSS Look, it's beautiful" and she'll say something like, "Oh come on, let's just get home" !!!!
I remember one evening on Boracay Island, all these Europeans (Germans, Swiss, Belgians etc) sitting on beach chairs watching the sun sink over the horizon, and when it finally disappeared, they all broke out into spontaneous applause ! It was amazing !!! They'd never seen a sunset over the ocean, esp. not one that beautiful. Another one of nature's wonderful gifts to us. Sunrise is great too, esp. as I am a morning person, I get up at around 6 most days and go for a walk in the hills near my place. In New Zealand, our air is so clean and clear you can literally 'taste' it, esp when it is a little bit crisp and cool.
The salaries here may be crap but that's the price you pay for living in paradise. We may not have the heat of Australia but at least we have no poisonous or dangerous animals to worry about in the land or sea like they do, plus we don't have to put up with that awful convict twang in their accent!":-
My best photo in my opinion. I waited for a surfie to walk past and just before the sun melted away this dude obliged. I don't think I could take a better photo for a long time. Summerland, Southern California:-
Or my son and his girlfriend on a gorgeous Melbourne beach:-
Love this one I got from a FB friend:-
This one from my friend Becky - English Mum who sent me this photo taken in Goa:-
I loved the sunsets in Goa. The sun seemed so big and was a dazzling array of different colours. This was my favourite one, a beautiful hot pink. It's not a fabulous picture, but at least you'll see what I mean!
