I was very excited yesterday to receive this email (complete with spelling errors):- "We are extremely interseted in having you as a keynote speaker for our International Women's Day Conference on the 8th March 2013. Just wondering if there is any possibility you might be available to undertake this for us. We feel that your story and the may your protray it is something that everyone would thoroughly enjoy hearing about. Looking forward to hearing from you". So I sent her a reply, asking for more information....because, well, obviously I couldn't really understand what on earth she was talking about - and got this:- "Many thanks for coming back to me so promptly. I heard your interview one afternoon on Today FM and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really feel what you have to say would be a great interest to women in general and we would like to attract a larger audience. This is the 5th year of the International Women's Day conference and we are aiming to make it an even larger more international event than previous years. The conference attracts participants from across the University Sector, local business networks and the local community. The conference title has yet to be agreed for this year, however, for information I am attaching conference brochures for the past 2 conferences to give you an idea of conference themes and presenters. We would be honoured if you could speak at the conference. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to come back to me". So I sent her a reply saying I think she must have the wrong person as I've never been interviewed on Today FM. Unsurprisingly, I haven't heard from her again. A clear case of mistaken identity. Who, I wonder, was it really for?
