Like many industries, the travel industry is hurting right now as tourism has simply stopped. We have gone from looking at the issues of over-tourism to no tourists whatsoever in just a few months, as countries have closed their borders to protect their people. The effect on the tourism industry has been profound, with millions of jobs lost since the world stopped travelling.
#TogetherInTravel is an initiative by the World Travel And Tourism Counsel as a global moment of solidarity with the travel industry and they are calling for us all to share travel memories online during this time when nobody can travel, whilst we all wait for restrictions to be lifted.
The idea is to share some of our most memorable travel experiences on social media just to keep the dreams alive as well as remind the huge industry that we will all be back at some stage. Travel is a community and a collection of unparalleled experiences, uniting us all “but even when we have to stay apart, travel can still bring us closer, so from our homes all around the world, let’s keep the spark alive together.”
So do share your stories using #TogetherinTravel, your most prized memories or greatest adventures with images and videos or the songs you’ve heard in an effort to support each other during this time, keeping the flame of travel burning and our hopes and dreams alive (I’m dreaming of Africa….)
