You could literally become “One in a Million” by heading to your nearest blood donor venue and giving blood. The NHS are calling for 200,000 more donors to get them back up to 1 million donors. They are continuing to face a challenging blood shortage as supplies run low and we are on “amber alert.” There’s apparently a critical need for O Negative blood – the universal donor.
I started giving blood a few years ago now and can honestly say it’s one of the most heartwarming experiences I’ve ever come across.

As Caitlin Moran says “you are asked to give love – freely and unconditionally to the world.” You get to sit in a room full of people – a sea of humanity – all patiently waiting to give a part of themselves, to save somebody else. Taking time out of their busy day to do something extraordinary. It takes about an hour. You get to eat biscuits and drink orange squash.

You get to look around the room and wonder who all these people are. You get a text afterwards, thanking you for your donation and then another one about a week later that tells you where your blood has gone – mine was issued to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Only 2% donate regularly. That’s not enough.
Please sign up, it’s not as daunting as it sounds and you can genuinely help save lives.
