My teenage son is going to try out for this year’s X Factor audition which sadly won’t go as well as he had planned – given that he managed to get his nose broken on the football pitch earlier today and now looks….well…..I am his mother…..so I still think he looks beautiful….but I’m thinking more Mike Tindall than Johnny Depp – his nose has literally been pushed to one side. Not good. In casualty they told him there was nothing they could do. He has to go and see a nose specialist in 10 days which I suspect means that his options are to look mashed for the rest of his life or have an operation to re-break it.
He might even have two black eyes in the morning and he’s possibly going to sound a little nasal whilst singing his chosen song, so my mother suggested that maybe he should sing a “Black Eyed Nose” song – which I thought was quite funny and impressive on several counts – I didn’t know my mother had even heard of the Black Eyed Peas, let alone could make a joke about it.
It was a HUGE game they played today -their second last game ever as a team and they drew – which means their last game next Sunday is even more HUGE. A coach (as in a large bus with wheels – not a last minute trainer) is being hired and we are all going off to support them and pub crawling all the way back because if they win their game they will be top of the Premier Elite Division and that is a big, big deal. Loads of us turned up to support the game today. The WAGs were out in force – although no Wives yet, only lots of Girlfriends – so more FAGs than WAGs – “Friends and Girlfriends”. My youngest son made cakes, supervised the cake stall with a friend and they raised over £20 for comic relief which was pretty impressive. We all Shouted. A. Lot. Ex husband turned up with new puppy who managed to break free of his lead and run on to the pitch at an entirely inappropriate moment.

March 7, 2011I had a broken nose at the age of about 25 (long story) and they bashed it back under anasthetic in the hospital. They couldn’t do it oroginally though because of the swelling. It doesn’t hurt any more than the original bashing and the bruising was minimal but I would highly recommend going to the proper nose people. They might just bash it back to the original position too, but at least you’ll know that it’s being done properly. It’s not a big deal really though, and revovery is pretty quick.
