I am already back in Athens for a few days. Beginning to feel like I know my way around. Which is unusual, because I was not a homing pigeon in my previous life. I am one of those people who turn left instead of right after leaving a shop.

But it feels as if I am back with old friends and meeting new ones. All wonderfully warm and welcoming.

There is a group of us here for a workshop and we are being very kindly hosted by the Pallas Athena hotel in central Athens – very funky indeed – LOADS of interesting artworks dotted about and each room is individually decorated.

So far it doesn’t feel like a work trip at all – except the bit that involves 1000% guilt that I’m not at home mopping my daughter’s brow on the lead up to her first exam next week…still there is not much that I can do at this late stage in the game apart from replacing me with someone else who can bring her tea and cupcakes at regular intervals – so hopefully she won’t notice I’m not there!
