And so finally, our lovely friend has flown off into the sunset.
She was trying to be so brave yesterday – she kept on talking and smiling and saying her goodbyes, but silent tears were coursing down her cheeks almost all day.
I will miss her desperately, but what can you do? Life is not for sitting still. Life is out there, waiting to be grabbed with both hands. Life is for living and you can’t do that without checking out another country for a while and scaring yourself a little bit every day (says the sitting still blogger). Anyway. The fact is that I know she’ll be fine. Because she and her husband are soulmates and have a ridiculously strong bond and therefore it doesn’t really matter where they go.
At one of our farewell parties last week the children waved sparklers about:-

I hope they really really enjoy the experience. It always helps to remember that the sunset and her friends will still be here when they get back. My daughter took this picture in our local park the other day – how gorgeous is that?
