So I waved my daughter off today after having her back for FOUR MONTHS!!! What sort of summer holiday do you call that? Honestly ridiculous. I don’t even know what she’s paying for – apparently her last lectures will be in February before her finals in May – so if you minus Christmas and Easter holidays she’s only away for about another four months and then that’s it. She will be back.
It was sad watching her drive away with a car load of crap – duvets and pillows and pot plants, but she’s excited to be going back. Moving into a new house with all her girlfriends. Will be so much fun. I’m so relieved for her that her knee operation that she had at the beginning of the summer was a success and that she managed to have such a great summer around all the convalescence.
Things I won’t miss
Teabags in the sink
Almond milk in the fridge
The biggest pile of mess you’ve ever seen that generally follows her around
Missing clothes
Missing bits of makeup
Things I will miss
Her company
Her humour
Her general attitude to life
Her advice
Her support
Her.
I will miss her.
It’s hard when they leave at the best of times, but I think I might find it harder because I haven’t got a partner to distract me. I really do need to get on the case now. I don’t want to be left completely alone when my youngest finally leaves home (although goodness knows when that is going to happen – my oldest is now living back at home….they’re more difficult to get rid of than you think!
