Happy Christmas to all and just in case you haven’t seen it – or indeed bought it yet, here’s a little reminder of the new Band Aid 30 song. Love seeing Sinead O’Connor in the crowd and her brief telling off by Sir Bob at the end to keep her hands down….
They the words have changed a bit – but frankly I’m with Bob, anyone who criticises can just “f*ck off” – it might be patronising but so what? The song moved the nation 30 years ago to raise millions for the starving in Africa and topped the charts and should do again.
It’s good to see a new generation of pop stars arriving at the same recording studio where the original Band Aid single was recorded in 1984, to produce their own version of the song to raise money to help the fight against the disease which is ravaging through Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea and leaving thousands dead in its wake.
I think it’s brilliant and George Osborne has said they can have all the VAT back on the record. So 100% of any income from this record. So as Bob says “if the government is prepared to do that, then come Monday at 08:00 when every station plays this track across the nation, buy this thing. Don’t go looking for it free. Buy it.”
I’ve bought it – have you?
