I don’t think it’s useful to point out that yesterday was “Blue Monday”, the most depressing day of the year – it makes me feel even worse. It makes me drag my feet about and question life and wonder what I’m going to get done this year. This leads briefly on to the fact that I appear to be almost holed up at home with one majorly stressy teenage daughter in the midst of her mocks and a teenage son who is doing his maths retake TODAY. I have been attempting to keep the household calm and running well. Which is a little bit difficult for me. A well oiled house is most definitely not my forte.
So I really did try hard yesterday to avoid feeling miserable and kept focusing on the fact that it was also Martin Luther King day and think thoughts of campaigns for human rights instead. But I kept drifting off to my circumstances and what to do about lots of stuff, which led me on to how difficult it is to meet potential partners in my position. My friend is in a similar position and we were going to meet for a drink over the weekend but she texted to say “sorry, daughter freaking out about exams, can’t get out” and I replied “no probs, same here, catch up when the kids have left home”. She has been trying a bit of internet dating but I’m not sure with any level of success. It seems everyone only wants to meet for sex? Is that true? I’m too scared to try it. It doesn’t feel right. Sitting trawling through personalities looking for the ones that don’t look like they only want to have sex. I mean honestly, surely if you’ve got a personality you are going to meet a friend or a friend somewhere aren’t you? I know internet dating is more acceptable these days but really, I just don’t believe if you ask a young person that they would dream of meeting someone online – yes they have Facebook etc but thats for friends, not actual dating…..I’m not sure my children would approve.
So anyway. Happy not Blue Monday. It’s Tuesday. We’ve got through it. Onward and upwards. It’s getting dark later already. Yippee.
Anyway, this was the photo I took on my phone yesterday – it doesn’t look too blue to me:-

Eclipse
January 17, 2012You should give it a go, I know someone who has and she seems to have done quite well. Sadly, I have no idea what sites she has used, so am a bit useless in that sense. But it might be worth a shot?
PS best wishes to the exam-takers in ur house 🙂

January 17, 2012I must admit it would probably freak me out. I don’t know one friend who has met their current partner online, even though they actually signed up on a few sites. Better keep the Ball & Chain around hadn’t I?
