I think we’ve had our final knock on the door from a Lib Dem candidate this evening, ahead of the Richmond by-election tomorrow. Bob Geldof says we should vote for the Liberal Democrats tomorrow and I agree with him. I do think the Lib Dems are closing the gap on sitting MP Zac Goldsmith, which will be a massive blow for Teresa May and her decision not to put a Conservative candidate in the running. Zac is backed by local Tory MP’s and UKIP (HE’S BACKED BY UKIP!!), whereas the Green Party is backing the Lib Dems. Zac won the seat with a massive majority in last year’s general election, but I bet he won’t tomorrow and I anticipate the vote will be very close. I didn’t think I would ever choose to vote against him, but I feel very strongly about his EU agenda.
I’m totally with Bob Geldof on why we shouldn’t vote for Zac Goldsmith tomorrow. I have always liked him, despite his woeful campaign to become Mayor of London. I don’t even mind that he failed in his attempt to get the third runway stopped at Heathrow, but I do agree that he has not only failed, but he has betrayed the people of Richmond in choosing to vote for Brexit and is now the “poster boy for the Brexiteers”.
The fightback starts tomorrow. “It’s exciting, but Zac has to go”, says Bob. I’m with him on that. Watch this space.

December 2, 2016Absolute nonsense – Zac Goldamith has always been clear about his opposition to the EU and been in favour.
Theresa May is right to deliver what the British people have decided upon in a clear referendum and to return Britain to a being a self governing country.
Bob Geldof isn’t even British so I don’t know why he is getting involved.
As for Heathrow expansion that is also the right decision and – better to expand existing facilities than create new ones on greenfield sites. Obviously West London nimbies won’t agree but is hazard a guess that votingbin the Lib Dems has pretty much guarantee that that one will go ahead now.
