BRIT AWARD RESULTS

Adele has topped off a spectacular year by adding two Brit Awards to her mantlepiece alongside her 6 Grammy’s – no surprise that she was going to win Best British female and British album. She sang “Rolling in the Deep” beautifully, looked absolutely gorgeous, was immensely cool and shouldn’t have been cut off at the end when she had just started her thank you speech. Outrageous actually. OK Blur were doing a song, but still – not acceptable. Give her a couple more minutes.

I watched the programme with my daughter – she kept getting really cross with me “OMG CAN YOU STOP COMMENTING AND BEING RUDE ABOUT EVERYBODY – NO WONDER YOU DON’T WATCH TV – YOU’RE SOOOOOO ANNOYING!!”.
GOD. CHILL OUT. I kept telling her. I’m entitled to my own opinion. I’m allowed to be astonished by how teeny weeny Bruno Mars is – pocket sized and how funny Adele was when she hugged Kylie and said she felt like a transvestite – she was right – she looked huge compared to her….but when I commented on Olly Murs’ hair not looking good – sort of “Mr Whippy-ish” she nearly killed me. I forgot that I am not allowed to say a word against him. Ever.

HOORAY for Ed Sheeran who I LOVE for also winning two awards – best British male and British breakthrough. Coldplay were crowned best British group for a record third time.

Big surprise was former X Factor boy band “One Direction” winning best British single.

I was slightly disappointed how many bands I hadn’t heard of. I have obviously lost massive touch with the cutting edge of music and my friend is going to kill me because she’s been telling me about Lana Del Ray for months and now look – she’s won best international artist AND got a Mulberry handbag named after her.

Blur made me feel very very old by mentioning everybody I have ever worked with back in my EMI days – even the Parlophone tea lady – I remember the tea lady well – she used to come round all the time and we’d buy revolting cups of coffee and kit kats.
