The Chiswick Festival, I have to say is one of my yearly guilty pleasures. A festival on my doorstep that doesn’t involve any mud. I don’t have to stay in a tent or sleep in my clothes. It is an expensive ticket and dangerous too because having paid a fortune months in advance, all the food and drink is free. Which makes grown men and women behave incredibly badly. Drink until you drop – champagne and Grey Goose vodka mostly and eat your own body weight in lobster and cow.

But, they never fail to put on a good line-up and even if the average age is thirty years older than that of the Reading Festival – it is cool. I promise. Well, if you think Jo Wiley is cool – then it’s cool. They even have cigarette girls wandering around and Lana Del Ray smoked on stage and yes, I know I’m not supposed to think that sort of thing is cool anymore but I do. Sorry. You hardly see any teenagers – luckily too expensive because they SO wouldn’t be able to pace themselves….
