Several of my friends have been extolling the virtues of having an Epsom Salt bath of late, as a cure for tired achey muscles and possibly cramps.
They have suggested I try this instead of attempting to counteract the onset of cramps (brought on by my penchant for Sauvignon Blanc I suspect) by drinking gin and tonic with Quinine in it.
How have I come on to something so simple so late in the day? EPSOM SALTS! My mother’s remedy back in the day for many things.
I didn’t even know that Epsom Salts came from Epsom! Discovered 400 years ago from a natural spring and back in the 17th Century, Epsom became a Spa town of note. The salts were used as a treatment for constipation for the next 300 years, until it all dried up (excuse the pun). So hardly our very own Lourdes, but still.
Now where do they come from? One of the packets on sale was made in China so I’d be interested to know the source or are they no longer natural?
Anyway, I’m giving them a go – look how pretty and sparkly they are:-

Apparently you can also use them as an exfoliator if you add a little tiny bit to your cleanser, as something that can remove splinters and in-grown hairs, as a laxative, they can help you sleep better and seemingly quite a few other uses.
I’m just hoping they will help with my muscle cramps….we will see.
Anyone else find that they help with cramps?
