Good luck to all those 15 & 16 year olds who are taking their English Language GCSE today. My son is doing the IGCSE one at his state school and I don’t know when it happened that they decided to go for that version and not the normal GCSE version. It’s really quite different. But oh well, too late to worry about that now!
He’s gone off to school to pack some last minute details into his head…maybe he is just one of those children who are very last minute. I hope so!
So I assume for exam parents your May bank holiday weekend wasn’t very good. “It’s been a May Wank Holiday Weekend” said one friend. All the parents I talked to were either stressed because their child was stressed and therefore they were trying to calm them down, OR they were stressed because their child didn’t appear to be at all stressed and so they were stressing for them (guess which category I fitted in to!)…I really feel more needs to be done to help parents – perhaps we just need lessons that are titled “You Can Lead A Horse To Water.”
So finally, last night, for some last minute comfort, I turned to the book I always love to look at when I want a bigger, wider world message – one of hope and reassurance, my “365 Buddhist Offerings Book” and the message for the day:-
“The trouble is that you think you have time”….
Was that a message to me and my life? Or was written directly for my teenage son, who it totally relates to right now.
Who knows, but the answer for the day is therefore “just hurry up and get on with it”.
Whatever “it” is.
