I have had a good day. Despite being ridiculously tired because I had dinner last night with a group of very old friends for a birthday celebration, I taught my exercise class this morning at the posh club. Having had five women appear the first week I had 18 today!!! I couldn’t believe it. The whole room was full and I found it extremely challenging to re-adapt my class accordingly. The feedback at the end was really good. A few of them think I will end up with a couple of classes …. we’ll see. It is very satisfying to have people come back, I must say.
It is also extremely satisfying to know that I have made it into the Top 10 nominations for a Best of Blog 2007 award. Satisfying and unbelievable.
It is also extremely satisfying to come home and be brought back down to earth by three demanding children:-
Teenage son is in need of camouflage trousers for a “Come as your Idol” party on Friday night. He wants to go as Action Man, but didn’t appreciate my suggestion of cutting out brown astro-turf to stick on his head. Rumour has it that some of the girls are going to be dressing up as a Playboy bunny. That is their idol? What a worry. Bet that’s wishful thinking on behalf of my son. Hopefully he’s completely wrong and they’ll all be dressed up as Marie Curie and Mother Theresa. I was going to suggest Florence Nightingale, but that involves a nurses uniform and we may therefore be getting back into fantasy land for the boys..
12 year old daughter has spent most of her homework time searching the web for the perfect pair of shorts and watching Youtube video footage of “I’ll Do Anything”, because she knows one of the contestants.
7 year old son has had a complete strop about doing his homework because he’s “been doing SAT’s all day long” and it’s really not fair (am I meant to know they’re doing SAT’s at school?). His older brother was winding him up – I made them apologise to each other, older one said sorry and in reply he said “yeah, I’m sorry too, sorry you’re my brother”.
He then told his sister she had “penis breath” and stomped upstairs.
“Penis breath?” That’s a new one.
not a father...
May 14, 2008what is more worrying?… the fact that the girls idolize a bunny girl…or that teenage son’s idol is…. Action Man!

May 15, 2008An idol is, by definition, a stereotype. Now a role model – that’s a different thing and it’s where you come in, so don’t worry. Flick xx
