So proud of my daughter who graduated from university just a few days ago. Graduation Day was at the same venue as her brother who graduated two years ago. The universities make it such a special, memorable day. I didn’t go to my graduation – none of us did. Not sure why. It just wasn’t a thing at our uni.
If you’re divorced or separated it can be a bit more of a difficult day, but I would urge anyone in that situation simply to consider the child. No matter how badly you are getting on, you should be able to rise above your differences for the sake of your shared offspring. It’s about them. Not you. I know a number of fathers who either weren’t invited or refused to go if their ex-wives were going to be there and that is simply wrong on every level. We managed a full day of festivities – lunch, followed by the ceremony, followed by celebratory drinks and then I took my daughter out with her friend for dinner and then they went on to party late into the night.
Well deserved. How exciting to have your whole lives ahead of you….she felt like she’d had the three best years of her life, but I’m sure the best is yet to come.
