We’ve just read “We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves” as our first book of 2015 and it’s managed to leap to the very top of our favourite choice. We (nearly) all loved it – not only for the subject matter, which certainly makes you think, but also for the author Karen Joy Fowler’s very dry humour and clever sentence structures. It is both “hilarious and heartbreaking” as The Guardian says.

We are all completely beside ourselves

Apparently this was her 10th book! She wrote this when she was 65 and her maturity as an author benefited the story hugely I felt.

Honestly, as a story of sibling love and loss it is extraordinary and with the unexpected revelation a third of the way through the book it has every you would want from a story.

It has made me think differently about the world. So thank you to the author for that.
