So what are we going to do about Halloween costumes this year? I actually own a scary clown outfit that one of my children wore one year for trick or treating, but there is no way they can wear it this year. I think every parent (and child) around the country is a little bit scared about Halloween this year because of the latest horror trend and the subsequent threat of bumping into a horrid scary clown. I do hope there is no plan to terrorise the life out of us all on the 31st October by a sinister group of people that think it would be funny – or worse, by a sinister group of people who want to hurt innocent people.
One in seven parents are worried that Halloween is becoming more sinister every year and a third say that costumes no longer have a traditional Halloween theme but are selected simply to scare. I don’t really have a problem with the scare factor per se, all the blood and scars and heads hanging off, or mad Doctor’s blood stained coats have always been part of the scene, but the latest “Dead Pet”? Road Kill? Really? Who wants to see that? Or horribly distasteful ones like Jack The Ripper are equally out of order. I loved the costume Jemima Khan wore to a Halloween function recently dressed as Melania with a horribly gropey Trump attached to her body. That was funny…
So the costume of choice for my son this year? We chose it from Morphsuits and they very kindly sent us it to review. It is suitably scary I have to say and quite unusual. They have a massive range of really funny ones, but this was the one he went for in the end – the Arachnomania Morph suit, covered in revolting spiders – you really wouldn’t want to bump into him in a dark alley:-
