Really, I should be giving you all an update on what is happening round this ‘ere parts. Because lots is happening. Lots and lots. But. As usual, I can’t really say any more than that. Sorry.

I can talk generically about Christmas and the single parent and admit to the fact that I am already stressing about who is going to be where….and when. I’d love to tell you about some of my happy friends and there are also lots of important issues to be discussed about some of my not so happy friends. Big problems are everywhere it seems. However, I am not in a position to discuss any of this stuff either.

So why don’t I tell you about my youngest son, who, having changed schools recently is very, very happy and is settling in well and I am hugely relieved.

I have taken my birthday cards down today so that we have a brief break before Christmas and I just have to show you the one he made for me – because it’s SOOOOO lovely. He made it online and then had it sent to me by post. On the front is a huge announcement of my age (not good) and a lovely photo of all of us together but just look what he wrote inside:-

It’s the sort of thing I’m going to have to frame and cherish forever. More so because I’m feeling a little nostalgic for my firstborn who has disappeared off the face of the planet to university and hasn’t returned my call from ten days ago yet and it makes you realise just how quickly they grow up and move on.

My daughter too wrote a lovely card and now I’m going to have to consign that to my blog for future reference as well because otherwise she will get in a strop:-

Happy Birthday
I hope you have the best birthday ever and got everything you wanted.
You are the best mum in the world!
I love you so much! Thank you for everything! I love you so so so so much. You are such a kind, funny beautiful (occasionally annoying LOL) person!
Hope you have had a very special day.
Love you to the moon and back and always will xxxxxxx

Aren’t I the luckiest mother in the world??

Just in case you’re now feeling a little bit sick – my kids have just commented on my new, shorter hair style

daughter: “OMG?? WHY did you do that? Now you look really mumsy”….

Son: Don’t worry mum, it will grow….

Friends, on the other hand all clearly got together and worked on a theme for my cards, including:-

Life is like good wine…best taken with friends

Yes, she certainly was all woman, strong yet still sensitive, assertive yet still caring, powerful, yet still fragile…..trollied, yet still standing!!

Cocktails. The reason to get out of bed every afternoon.

You’re odd, but I like you….
