HAPPY NATIONAL SINGLE PARENTS DAY TO Y’ALL…
I’ve been too busy to prepare a post and now I’ve got to go to work. Sigh.
Perhaps that is the essence of being a single parent. You are multitasking x 2. Is it any wonder you don’t have a lot of time?
So when I have a minute, in the next twenty five years, I will write a proper post about the joys and woes of being a single parent.
In the meantime, all that is left is to say that I feel your pain. I know how hard it is to live alone with your children. With no one to help you make any decisions, or make you a cup of tea, or listen to your worries, or take out the bins, or do the food shop for you or pour you a bath, or help the children with their homework, feed the cats, water the plants, pay the bills or worry alongside you when things go wrong, or, or….
But you know what? On the upside? You will have the greatest relationship with your children ever, you will laugh and cry with them, discuss everything until the decisions become obvious, get them to help you cook, get them to do their own homework, get them to learn how to be a little more empathetic and independent and during your journey, you will become super strong. It’s hard, but there are massive positives to being a single parent. You learn how to be in control of your own little world. You don’t have to be disturbed by snoring (except your own), you can make your own plans and learn more about yourself and that of your children. You know their friends and have time for them. It’s really not all bad at all.
So have a good day and give yourself a little pat on the back. Being a parent is the hardest job in the world and when you are doing it alone, it’s even harder. But, even in the very bleak periods, when you really do wonder if you’ve done everything wrong, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
