HAPPY NEW YEAR!! WOOHOO.
I have a headache and it’s pissing with rain.
CRAPPY NEW YEAR.
Which is a fairly predictable start to 2017.
But it means that things can only get better, right?
Always we hope.
A lot has already been said about 2016 and we are all still reeling and bracing ourselves for what is yet to come. All still shocked by the number of high profile deaths we’ve had this year, but as it’s New Year’s Day and I’m hungover, lets try and look on the bright side and be thankful for all the people who didn’t die this year.
There is very little point in continuing to worry about all the perceived threats we now are facing so I’m going to try an alternative strategy and be hopeful that our new world order is going to be better than before. That the shake up we’ve all had will mean everyone will be more considered, more thoughtful, more involved, take more action, step up, step out, get up, get out and allow our voices to be heard.
Last year I followed the strategies recommended in a book called “Your Best Year Yet” and I have frankly had one of the shittiest year’s I can remember in many ways. Lots and lots has gone wrong and yet, worryingly, perhaps I will look back on 2016 as being not so bad after all if things continue to get worse – but you know what? Out of adversity and all that…and all that planning I did went wrong, because making too many plans can set you up for a fall. So I’m going to do a bit less planning and a bit more free-falling this year and see how that goes. Obviously I will have some goals, but not sure what they’ll be yet. So I’m not making any new years resolutions this year apart from to be hopeful. Hope is such a good thing to have in large doses. Hope can get you out of bed in the morning, because there is nothing more reassuring than hoping that there is something around the corner.
“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul.”
Emily Dickinson
“In the kingdom of hope there is no winter.”
