Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. No sign of any cards or flowers for me, but my children as usual have saved the day. No, I’ll re-phrase that, ONE of my children has saved the day. As ever. I don’t know why my children feel that I am worthy of acknowledgement today – I don’t remember doing anything for my parents – only boyfriends (imaginary or otherwise).
My 3 kids revert to type completely on days like this:-
Teenage son:- Still in bed. With hangover, as he was out celebrating the start of his half term last night. He will get up some time this afternoon I suspect and hopefully do some work. He has asked me to stay somewhere else tonight so that he can “entertain” his girlfriend alone. I did think about it but I’m teaching early tomorrow so forget it. About 10 minutes before his girlfriend comes round he will ask to borrow some money and rush to the garage to discover that there are only blue flowers left and ice scrapers. He will decide that even though she doesn’t have a car an ice scraper will be a fine present.
Teenage Daughter:- Quick heart shaped cut out saying “I love you so much” and some soap that she gave me last year that she found in the cupboard but “as you haven’t used it yet, I thought I’d give it to you again”.
10 y/o son:- One day he will make the most divine partner to somebody. He is SO thoughtful and generous it is ridiculous. Here was my breakfast this morning:-

Fat gutted Cornishman with fag stained fingers’ Decide to celebrate in style and off to Showcase to see ‘True Grit’, having checked out times on google. Arrived with bottle of water, hidden in bag and large bag of M and S fudge (ditto). Told it was not on! Nor was ‘Brighton Rock’ which Google assured me was. Opted for ‘Never let me go’ Definitely agree with the ‘haunting’ description in the blurb! x Well done, H. Nothing to fret about now for at least 5 years! x
