I am feeling much better (selfishly), having spoken to several of my married friends this morning. They are miserable. Husbands either away or being inattentive or grumpy or all three. Valentine’s Day only highlights one’s miseries if you are stuck in a place that requires a little bit of work (digging) to get out of it.
Anyway, so here is my Valentine’s message to all you divorcees/separated women out there:
THE WORLD’S SHORTEST FAIRY TALE:
Once upon a time there lived a beautiful girl. A handsome man asked for her hand in marriage and she said “NO”. She lived happily ever after. She went dancing, shopping and travelling. She didn’t have to wear ridiculous, uncomfortable underwear that went up her arse, she didn’t have to put the loo seat down, she had high self-esteem and she got to see her friends whenever she wanted. She had lovers and presents and invitations to balls. She never had to cook and her house was always tidy. She never had to watch sport if she didn’t want to and never saved any money or cried.
THE END.

February 14, 2008Happy VD?!!
I guess you mean Valentines Day but otherwise that’s what happens with indiscriminate dating…
… the fairy tale works as well for a man with slight modification:
Once upon a time there lived a handsome man. A beautiful girl wanted to marry him but he said “NO”. He lived happily ever after. He went drinking, partying and travelling. He didn’t have to wear ridiculous, comfortable M&S underwear that went down to his knees, he didn’t have to put the loo seat up, he had high self-esteem and he got to see his friends whenever he wanted. He had lovers and presents and invitations to clubs. He never had to cook and his house was always untidy. He never had to watch romantic movies if he didn’t want to and never saved any money or cried.

February 14, 2008That works equally well doesn’t it? Just goes to show that the “Men are From Mars and Women Are From Venus” theories are true…
