I have lots of things to write about and much to show you, but for now, as it’s not easy to find a place to blog and because I want to savour every moment and actually just “be”, I just want to say that we have successfully achieved our family mission together and brought my father back to Africa – specifically to The Victoria Falls.
I truly had no idea of their magnificence – and this is the rainy season, when the water flow is massively reduced. It was more the whole powerful effect and the rainbow! I wasn’t expecting the rainbow. We found a plaque that said:-
“Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”
David Livingstone.
I also wasn’t expecting to defy death by swimming and clambering over rocks to get to “The Devil’s Pool” which is literally right on the edge of the Vic Falls – there with the rainbow behind us we said our farewells to our father and released a little bit of him into the gushing water – it was truly magical and frankly we couldn’t have got him any closer unless we had thrown ourselves over the top.
It was very emotional for the three of us, but we all agreed that we have left him in the most beautiful place we had ever been. He’ll be happy there.
He is home.
