My daughter STILL has infected ear piercings. She’s had to see the nurse every day and it is concerning. I’m not sure if I should just take them out or not. The instructions say leave them in, but think she might be allergic to the earrings too. She texted me tonight “please can you come and pick me up from school. My ears hurt”.
Well, that’s the first time I’ve heard that excuse.

January 19, 2010Personally, take them out! They are the worst ones, they never, ever seem to heal properly.

January 19, 2010After having hers done in the summer, Sally’s ears have started hurting lately. But she’s definitely done much better with different earrings – ironically, the pair to cause least problems weren’t the purest gold! Why not try another pair and see what happens?

January 19, 2010if these are the new piercings, if you can bear it take the old ones out… buy her some little gold hoops, you know the ones we had a kids…and dip them in savlon…(l always do this with every pair l wear 35 yrs later)then she ca turn them round and round…the studs are useless in my opinion and they arent usually silver or gold….if hers are then l’m stumped…though my big girl had her tumy done, l found out 4 months after…it was infected for a year before she fessed up…the doc gave her special cream…
hope this helps lu

January 19, 2010The Queenager had dreadful problems after having hers pierced but I think she was fiddling with them without making sure her hands were clean. It does hurt though. Poor thing.

January 19, 2010Ouch, sounds awful. I think maybe you should take her to the GP if they’re not improving. :0(

January 23, 2010We found out the hard way that my ears are sensitive to everything except 24K gold. Have a doctor look at her–I have a knot in my left earlobe due to scarring from the infections. Strangely enough, I’ve never had any trouble with my navel piercing.

January 23, 2010I think you may be right – have already changed earrings to better quality metal as think she is allergic to the ones they use initially – the “non-allergenic” ones. Lx
