Could somebody please explain to me what Boris Johnson is doing? I know he has just narrowly escaped being squashed under the wheels of a lorry and has therefore managed to get his point across about why there should be more cycle lanes, but apart from that I really am beginning to wonder.
He has never been short of publicity. With all the media attention he attracts I have been waiting for a Joanna-Lumley-and-the-Gurkha’s-esque style campaign, with a bit of passion for lets say; sorting out the Metropolitan Police or our failing London Underground system. But instead, I have to listen every day to the jingle that he has recorded for Capital Radio. We all now know that poor old Boris can’t get any tickets for Capital’s ridiculously over-promoted “Summertime Ball”. He has actually allowed himself to be recorded saying that Katy Perry is going to be performing and that “I kissed a girl and I quite liked it”. WHAT IS HE THINKING OF? Perhaps I am the only person who finds this sort of self promotion toe curlingly embarrassing, but I would like to see his talents being put to a better use frankly.
Apart from all the media attention, what is he actually doing? Great that the hated “bendy” buses will soon be replaced by an updated version of our much loved double-decker, but even I could have managed to sort that little problem out. I was however a little surprised to read that he was disappointed that having put the “bendy” buses up for sale nobody had offered to buy any of them for £80k each.
I am quite sure he is very busy doing lots of useful things. I just don’t know what they are. My problem is that Boris seems to constantly confuse politics with show business and in my humble opinion it isn’t working. I am rapidly losing confidence. Does anybody know if Joanna Lumley wants to take over? I for one would definitely vote for her.

I follow Boris on Twitter but it’s really dry; he tweets about openings and schemes but never about his kids or his breakfast.

May 27, 2009I’d definitely vote of Joanna Lumley (and she has much better hair than Boris) – she seemed to scare the proverbial out of the politicans she came across which has to make a good change to normal operating mode
Fat, frumpy and fifty...
May 27, 2009I would vote for her IF I was anywhere near London!!
