I know you’ve all been terribly concerned about me and my dizzy spells and holding your breath for my final update….

I have now been dizzy-free for a week (well apart from last Wednesday and Friday, but that was entirely self induced). THANK GOD. Have you any idea how hard it has been taking my classes with completely no balance whatsoever? It has been an absolute nightmare. Certain movements made me feel like I was spectacularly drunk and about to fall over or be sick (slightly worrying that my clients didn’t notice!).

I tried all sorts of things – strange exercises, drugs, ear syringe, even doing headstands (which I decided to do just before going to bed and therefore just happened to be alone and naked – note to self – never do a naked headstand ever again. Very bad idea).

Whoever was responsible for setting up the 8 week rave in my head has decided to pack up all his gear and head to warmer climes – probably off to that all night beach party area in Thailand for the winter months. I’m flattered obviously that it chose my head in which to have a party, but it better not bloody come back.

I was given lots of strange advice about the condition – seemingly nobody has a clue even whether it’s caused by a virus or a bacteria or stress or, or, or,….

Well, I can tell you mine was definitely not caused by stress because I am still stressed and it has gone away. The consultant told me I just had to wait for it to go away – wait basically for whatever “crystals” or “debris” or “stuff” that had affected the tiny bones in my inner ear to disappear and allow the hairs etc to rebalance.

All I learnt was that it was better to try and ignore it as much as possible and get on with normal life – if you restrict your movements you get used to doing less. Don’t use Stemetil or other anti nausea type drug if you can avoid them because they just mask the symptoms and DON’T get your ears waxed. Ears are meant to have wax and are apparently self-cleaning.

I think it could also have something to do with hormone levels.  Going to look into that.
