I have just spent all day learning how to teach Pilates. This is to add to my qualification and will be an ongoing training until April next year. I am exhausted. We were taught by one of the other instructors who is a trained ballet dancer. Not only is she completely beautiful, but she is ridiculously fit. She was telling us that when we were doing the abdominal repertoire we should do the exercises with the clients at the same time and it was quite embarrassing because I struggled to do even one sit-up, let alone 100. Perhaps I need to go to prison for six months like Joseph Pilates did in order to get fit enough to perform in front of my class.
I was having a real “how did I get to be here?” moment.
I proudly showed my children the breathing exercises when I got home and what I could do with my ribcage. “Mum” said my teenage son, “you are such a loser, we can all breathe.”
Had a lovely day though. I really did enjoy it. So interesting.

whoa!? a hundred????? phew…indelibly impressed..x j
I guess it’s a case of “do as I say not do as I do!”
I think a fitness instructor, as a matter of respect for the class, should always extinguish his/her cigarette and put down the beer can before proceeding.
A one day class to teach? That’s just not enough! You need at the very least a full weekend and then more practice time.

Don’t worry Lynda – I’m already a trained instructor – have been for 5 years – this is just to hone skills and increase knowledge! Lx
