Just so that I’ve got something a little more cheery to tell you about than my last blog post – I thought I’d quickly mention that I took my ex-sister-in-law, her daughter and my daughter to see the musical of Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre in London the other day.

Generally speaking I have an aversion to musicals, so I was expecting to struggle a little and I was particularly nervous about sitting in an audience containing 99% of the female population of all ages and one man sitting next to my daughter who kept saying “WTF am I doing here?”.

However, after a slow start which was a little TOO girly even for me It turned out to be a brilliant show. Very funny and incredibly well performed. Denise Van Outen was my favourite – she played Paulette the hairdresser – I had no idea she was so talented – great voice and body – it looked like an exhausting role which presumably keeps her fit after the birth of her first child nearly a year ago. There are a couple of gay blokes and a majorly hot delivery man that get a lot of laughs – plus a scene in the courtroom that includes a song called “Is He Gay Or Just European” that is hilarious.

Susan McFadden is currently playing the role of Elle Woods – she’s very good and of course it’s a sweet little story about love and being true to yourself and finding your own way and turning adversity into something more positive and all that stuff we love to be reminded of.

A great night out. Not cheap, but get there if you can. So slightly surprisingly, I highly recommend it. My daughter wants to go again……hmmm. Thinking about it.

Sounds fun! It’s our favorite family movie anyway – we have watched I don’t know how many times at the cottage. Summer is not summer without “Legally Blonde”. It’s a sunny movie and it sounds like the musical lives up to its roots.

I think it’s Susan McFadden as Elle Woods not Sheridan Smith now. I saw her (Sheridan Smith) in Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket last week. Also very good!

Oh yes, you’re right – she’s in a play now isn’t she. Will change. Thanks for correction! Lx
