My lovely friend Sally Philips has asked me to help spread the word about some funds she’s trying to raise via crowdsourcing. She became patron of “Me too & Co” after moving to the area with her son Olly, who has Down Syndrome. She found it a real support during a time when she was constantly filling in forms explaining all the things Olly couldn’t do. The friendships she has made as a result are some of the best in her life.

Basically they need £10,000 in order to secure a consistent and stable operational environment for all the services they offer.  They try to offer nearly all their services for free so that they are always accessible, for any family, in need of support. Their mission is to be there for all the family and I know that it has helped Sally hugely.

They have wonderful volunteers and many of their therapists offer their time and skills for free. However, they do still need to be able to fund their venue now and in the future, meet running costs, continue to provide therapies and activities and ultimately lay down a stable financial foundation for the charity in order to survive for years to come.

Me too & Co is run by parents, for families and they aim to remove the isolation that can be created by disability and additional needs and provide a supportive and active community where the whole family is cared for.

They provide free services and activities to children aged 0-19 affected by disabilities and additional needs, together with their families. They are based in Richmond-upon-Thames, but have an open door policy. Anyone, from anywhere, is welcome!

They were founded in 2007 to fill a hole in the local community where no all round support existed for the whole family in order to provide a one stop shop where families could receive practical and emotional support, and children could access therapies and creative activities.

Since then, they have grown to support nearly 500 families, and the list is growing!

The link to the website with how to donate is here https://www.crowdshed.com/projects/me-too-and-co-childrens-charity – they have already raised quite a bit so every little will help. If they don’t reach their target they won’t get any money at all….so please do help if you can – they have 40 days left to raise the funds so time is of the essence!

What a wonderful place for parents and children. I think it’s hard to understand the complexity of needs that many children with disabilities deal with, along with their families. This video really brings it home in a moving, human way. Roll on crowdfunding for such a worthwhile place! Have just shared so more people know about Me Too & Co and can help.
