…. and then whilst in the midst of feeling discombobulated a ridiculously flamboyant rose presnted itself to me. It is the only flower in my front garden, but what a flower it is. Perfection. It smells gorgeous too. It is the most beautiful, most spectacular rose I have ever seen and it is speaking just to me, through it’s layer upon layer of velvet petal and it is telling me that life goes on no matter what and that through adversity comes something positive and that I need to go to bed now because I am talking bollocks X

I think nature often sends a hopeful message when we are feeling discombobulated(wicked word!)

I remember being in the depths of depression one evening a few years ago, driving to best friends house,to get out for an hour or so when things were shit at home, when I looked out and a huge white owl swooped alongside the car and flew along with me for what seemed like ages. It really cheered me up inside, lifted my heart and gave me hope that all would be well.

Like your gorgeous rose, it was really special!

I love that word – discombobulated. It should really mean something completely different, it sounds so much fun.

hi fa. Gosh. I’m not often sad reading blogs; mostly because they are such self-serving twaddle and some are so obviously tear-jerkers.

But it was your reflection (in your last post) about what might have been and whether your marraige could have survived an affair that moved me.

Tough one. The betrayal and the deceit are hard to overlook. I remember a bit of research, that I can no longer attribute, but which sounds right to me, as follows: that while women tend to have affairs with men they respect more than their husbands, men tend to have affairs with women that they respect less than their wives.

Without the time right now to trawl through the necessary back-blogs, I must just ask the question: is it really all too late? Are you (or either or) hitched up with significant others?

I’ve been married 30 years. Some significant hitches, but no serious ones, and (though it could have happened!!!) I was never unfaithful. And life with ‘her’ just seems to get better and better. Hence my concerns in the previous para.

Sorry to intrude and rabbit on. But I really am a romantic at heart and it would be so nice to see this, no doubt enormous, rift healed.

Ernest – you are neither intruding nor rabbiting on…I appreciate your view on the matter – it is a difficult one – so so so much water under the bridge and different lives in many ways now – I don’t think either of us have moved on to an infinitely better place and I think we both still suffer, but…I feel too much damage has been done. I honestly believe when you say you have never been unfaithful, but could have been that that is the key – it becomes a choice not a mistake and you weigh up what you are prepared to lose and at the time of the affair, he was prepared to lose it all….I don’t think he would have entered into another relationship otherwise – and I still question therefore whether it was a symptom of major problems within the marriage rather than just a blip…

Welcome back Janelle – I wish I had white sand in all my bags…lovely Lx
