I have a heavy heart. Can’t talk about it. Issues. Many.
On a bigger picture note – as a parent it’s not very easy these days to find our way through the rapidly changing environment. Last week I was asked to advise on modern issues I expected to have answers to, but struggled with – it’s such a brave new world out there, I feel as if I’m getting left behind. I was asked about what to do about an infected belly button piercing – “it’s oozing” – and so I had a look and then wasn’t sure if she should remove the ring or spray it or wash it so I suggested she remove it (not an option), sprayed it, gave her a plaster and recommended that she ask her mother and/or a professional.
On the upside of my already bad day my Gap Yah son has announced that he isn’t going to extend his stay after all and will be back at the end of the week. YAY!! OK, this decision probably has more to do with the fact that he has fractured his heel and is in a cast and will appear out of the Arrivals Gate walking with crutches rather than because he is missing us all so much, but still. YAY again.
