I had a big response to my post a few days ago about my son being upset on the night of his birthday, sitting on his bed and trying to make his pain disappear.

The email below is from my blog friend Janelle, who found me through the ether a few years ago now and although we haven’t met yet,  I know one day we will……we have to.  It is written in the stars.  She made me cry back because somehow it is just a wonderful reminder of a big wide world full of people all just trying to do the same stuff as best they can and sometimes it’s what it’s all about:-

hey lulu
man. your post really affected me.
made me cry.
just your real feelings and the image of you hugging your baby boy and with all your heart wishing his pain away…
it took all my words away and i felt it with you.
so hard , darlin’, so hard.
but it will get better.
it will. it will. everything does…most of the time.
and you seem to be an amazing mama with so much love…
well. i find you completely inspiring.
just want you to know that somewhere in the dark night in the middle of africa someone is thinking of you and wishing you strength, love and sending you an enormous hug from one mama to another doing her best.
with loadsa love and salaams
bright wintry african stars burning from here to there.
janelle

I just love the song….and not sure the lyrics are of any use to the exact situation (so like if your life was a movie and if i was a director i would play it at That Scene…) but the whole song is so beautiful and makes me think of great things, human spirit and strength and love.

What an amazing line to read : “just want you to know that somewhere in the dark night in the middle of africa someone is thinking of you and wishing you strength, love and sending you an enormous hug from one mama to another doing her best”. It’s a message I’d LOVE to receive particularly when I’m feeling alone ….and a message I’ve never stopped to think about sending anyone before, but will do now. “From one mama to another doing her best”. Wonderful.
